Abstract

In the lexical aspect, Spanish has been nourished by other languages such as:


Pre-Roman languages: these were the languages spoken in the Iberian Peninsula before being extinct, except the Basque that survived. Some examples are in the suffixes -ra, -rroyo (stream), -arro (mud), -erro (hill) and -quierdo (left). These words are called pre-Roman.
