Abstract

A critical reflection on the role of university-level education in computer science in the context of the challenges posed by the rapid emergence of artificial intelligence. It questions traditional educational approaches, as many of the tasks currently taught are becoming subject to automation. Based on the current state of computer science education, the paper advocates for an urgent shift towards a comprehensive educational model that emphasizes robust technical training in AI and emerging disciplines, the integration of AI across most university curricula, and the reinforcement of essential human skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and communication. An updated graduate profile for computer science professionals is proposed, projected for the year 2028, along with strategic guidelines for universities to transition towards a paradigm in which artificial intelligence serves as a central pillar for knowledge generation and future employability.
