Abstract

Undescended testis (UDT) or cryptorchidism is the most common testicular anomaly in pediatric urology, which is due to a failure in the normal process of testicular migration during the development of the testicle. This pathology carries an increased risk to various complications such as infertility, testicular malignancy, testicular atrophy and testicular torsion, so understanding the normal process of testicular migration and the failures that lead to an UDT are fundamental for physicians when evaluating a child with UDT and decision making.
